I seriously don't know why DA has the same category under two completely different paths...
Anyway, this is the art piece I used for my avatar. As you can see, I tried to mimic quills and fur using a brush and different shades of the base color. I love how the quills and tuft of white fur came out, less happy with the hands. But shrunk down to avatar size, the result is perfect.
